DANCERS AT MAD LOVE TO PERFORM!
During the year our students may choose to step out in competition or step up and entertain at local events.
The pinnacle of your year is always the annual production, where all dancers shine with their hard earned skills.
ANNUAL SHOW
Our end of year show is the highlight of our calendar for all of our dancers.
Months of planning culminates in an action packed few weeks rehearsing and ultimately performing at the ASB Theatre Marlborough.
Show dates are always the third weekend of November and we ask our families to keep these dates in mind.
More information is provided towards the end of Term 3 each year.

COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES
From time to time our students have the opportunity to perform as support acts or entertainment at various shows or events in Marlborough.
We encourage all eligible dancers to take these wonderful opportunities to gain valuable experiences and represent MAD in the community.
COMPETITIONS
We aim to offer competition opportunities to those dancers who are interested and show the skill and dedication required. Opportunities exist for dancers to compete as an independent soloist, duo or trio with our guidance or they may wish to audition for crews or troupes.
Competing as a MAD dancer involves additional class work and entrance fees. A commitment from each family to support their dancer with travel and fundraising is also required.
Competition is an expected commitment for our Highland dancers. It extends their skill and provides invaluable stage experience.
We attend selected competitions both locally and in other parts of the country, creating amazing memories for our dancers.
CREWS & TROUPES
An exciting way to extend a dancers skill and stage time! Participation in our crews and troupes is offered to keen students who meet minimum criteria. Exam marks, commitment and attitude in class are all considered and where necessary, an audition is held.
There is a minimum age and grade level for each dance genre and an expected commitment to additional training and travel.
Dancers wishing to express their interest should contact Fleur for Hip Hop Crews and Krystal for Jazz and Contemporary Troupes.
INTERNATIONAL
Marlborough Academy of Dance students have been fortunate in the past to have their hard work pay off and qualify to represent the studio, region and New Zealand at competition and events overseas.
Our amazing Highland dancers have travelled to Edinburgh, Virginia USA, China, France, Germany, Belgium and parts of Australia with pride.
MAD Hip Hop dancers have also represented New Zealand, at both Hip Hop Unite and the Australian Dance Crew Championships.
Additionally MAD have had troupes qualify for Australasian championships.
We are so proud of the work ethic and attitude of our dancers in these achievements.
